Virginia Western Community College offers FMCSA-compliant Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training designed for maximum safety, flexibility, and real-world results. Whether you want to drive long-haul tractor-trailers or operate local delivery and utility vehicles, we have a pathway that fits your schedule.

Available CDL Pathways:
• Class B CDL (Straight Trucks, Dump Trucks & Local Delivery): Accelerated, 100% in-person training with flexible day, evening, or weekend shift options.
• Class A CDL (Tractor-Trailers & Combination Vehicles): Choose between accelerated 100% in-person instruction or a hybrid format featuring self-paced online theory and flexible behind-the-wheel driving hours.

Tuition & Financial Assistance:
Full tuition ranges from $4,500 to $5,700 depending on the program selected. However, all options qualify for Virginia FastForward funding and FANTIC financial assistance. For qualifying Virginia residents, combining these funding sources reduces out-of-pocket tuition to $0.

Basic Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must hold a valid driver's license for a minimum of 60 days.
• Must be capable of passing a DOT Physical and 10-panel drug screening prior to behind-the-wheel instruction.

IMPORTANT: Submitting this form does NOT enroll you into an academic class, reserve a seat, or guarantee grant funding. Formal course enrollment and tuition assessment will be processed separately by VWCC staff once your eligibility is verified and approved.

Step-by-Step Submission Instructions:
1. Log into your WES student account.
2. Add the Grant Pre-Qualification Form to your cart.
3. Answer all screening questions regarding your income, family size, and right to work. Be prepared to provide verification for this information.
4. Students Under 24: If you are under 24, you will need to use your Parent's domicile or provide proof of independence.
5. Review and Agree to Policies: Check the boxes to acknowledge and agree to the WCG Promissory Note terms, Refund Policy, and related institutional guidelines. By checking these boxes, you agree that these terms will apply if you are approved for funding once enrolled by VWCC staff.
6. Complete Checkout: Submit the form to finish your registration. There is no cost for submitting this form. Complete this step even if the system displays an initial message indicating non-eligibility.
7. Complete the Interest Form: Fill out the Interest and Funding Screening Form so that we can appropriately match you with available funding.

Once submitted, a Career Navigator will review your information and contact you via your provided email to discuss your driving career goals, help you choose the best CDL pathway and schedule, verify prerequisites, and guide you through final course enrollment.
