Class Starts: March 13, 2018 
Where: at the RAMP Virginia Western location
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for eight consecutive Tuesday nights
Course Cost:  $300.00 with Assistance from a Virginia Building Entrepreneurial Economies grant your final cost could only be $25.00 The deadline to apply is February 20, 2018.
Accepted students will pay $25 of the $300 cost; the grant will fund the remaining $275 balance.
All applications are due by: February 20, 2018
Students will be notified of acceptance by February 27, 2018 and then must register and pay their $25 registration fee by March 9, 2018.
 

ABOUT THE COURSE: This course will enable you to “bootstrap” your way into a successful business rather than undertaking significant financial risk. You'll learn to identify problems, find solutions and make customer connections through an iterative experimental process.
"Entrepreneurial Mindset: Gig Economy Edition" is a career-credit course offered by Virginia Western Community College in its classroom in the new RAMP Business Accelerator in downtown Roanoke, 709 S. Jefferson St. The curriculum will draw from the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program and "The Gig Economy," a 2016 book about surviving in the uncertain but potentially rewarding world of short-term jobs, contract work and freelance assignments.

It's ideal for anyone seeking to:
  • Transition from employee to independent worker-
  • Explore entrepreneurship as a pre-retirement transition
  • Earn extra money while maintaining your current job
  • Transition from unemployed to self-employed
INCLUDED: One-on-one mentoring available by appointment in the 4 weeks following the end of the course.
Instruction is a hybrid of in-class discussion and online learning.


REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS COURSE:
  • Students must be 18 years old at the time of the application
