The Manufacturing Maintenance course curriculum is aligned with the Siemen's Level 1 credentialing, which is also used as the core of the VWCC Mechatronics Career Studies Certificate. The Workforce sequence of 2 courses, listed below, prepares entry-level manufacturing and maintenance technicians to repair and maintain large and complex machines to perform their work.

Through on-line, classroom and hands-on training, students will build skills in an array of mechanical, electrical and technological areas including:

  • Maintenance
  • Mechanical systems
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Electrical control systems
  • PLCs - Programmable Logic Controllers

Students will use a variety of resources including online OSHA instruction and Tooling-U from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

The Industrial Maintenance Technician Program consists of 2 courses taught in approximately 5 months total:

- Basic Manufacturing Skills - (pre-requisite to Manufacturing Maintenance), 112 contact hours; 4 hours per session, 3 sessions per week, 28 sessions over 9 weeks. Available Credentials: Manufacturing Technician Level 1 (MT1) Certificate from the Manufacturing Skills Institute

- Manufacturing Maintenance - 120 contact hours; 4 hours per session, 3 sessions per week, 30 sessions over 10 weeks. Available Credentials: OSHA card, Siemens Mechatronics Systems Certificate Program (SMSCP) Level 1 Certificate and students will also take the Bennett Mechanical Assessment.
