Basic Manufacturing Skills is the first course in our 2-course non-credit intensive training program for the Industrial Maintenance Technician Program. The sequence of classes prepares students for entry-level positions with regional manufacturers.  At the end of this course students will be eligible to take the Manufacturing Technician Level 1 (MT1) Exam from the Manufacturing Skills Institute to earn the MT1 Certificate.

  • Students will use a Manufacturing Skills Institute MT1 credentialing online course
  • Tooling University from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers

  • When successful, students will earn the Manufacturing Technician Level 1 Certification (MT1) from the Manufacturing Skills Institute
  • All students must be 18 years old
  • We require a pre-acceptance screening assessment through our VWCC Testing Center. Applicants must meet the requirements of the VWCC Placement Testing Center: ENF3, ENG111, MTE 1-3 (Reading, English and Math, respectively). Please contact our Student Services Group for more information at
