Kick-off your healthcare career by stacking entry-level credentials that will increase your employment options.


Students without any healthcare or college education experience are encouraged to follow the career pathway for medical assisting by starting with Certified Medical Administrative Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, then Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, and finish with EKG Technician. Following this pathway results in stackable credentials that are designed to build upon the knowledge and skills of one another.

Students interested in only Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, may also take this a standalone course, or enter the pathway at any course.

LEARN THE SKILLS:
  • Assist the physician during exams
  • Interview and educate patients
  • Measure and record vital signs
  • Administer injections
  • Data entry and scheduling

CERTIFICATION: 

Students will be prepared to sit for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Optional BLS card through American Heart Association valid for 2 years.


TUITION INCLUDES: 
  • Online mobile-ready textbook/workbook, learning tools, and study materials.
  • NHA online practice exams, online study guide, and fee for the CCMA exam.
  • Student kit with watch, stethoscope, and blood pressure cuff.

STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
  • Access to a computer and Internet or transportation to campus computer labs for weekly online assignments.
  • Students will need to purchase scrubs.
  • If students attend optional clinical, students are responsible for CPR certification and required vaccines.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS COURSE:
  • Complete interest form:Interest Form
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED/high school equivalency.
  • Demonstrate college readiness by completing the English self-assessment.
  • Demonstrate computer skills by completing one of the following:
    • Transcript showing computer class completion within last five years

Please read:  Students have the option to attend an Optional Life Support class on 1/21/25.
The optional clinical would consist of 130 hours over the last half of the semester in a doctor's office setting.
